I took sometime away this past week from updating the site, but I couldn't resist posting the new Neon Dreams' album that was just released today.
For those that don't know, the group Neon Dreams is a 4-piece electronic live production team, hailing from Halifax, NS. The new 7 track album is called "To You" and are derived from a refreshing mix of electronic pop beats, samples, instruments and vocals; blending different styles as well as genres.
It was apparent last night that Canada shut down as we all watched one of our favorite bands take the stage for one final performance. Gord Downie and The Tragically Hip, from Kingston, Ontario, gave us a magical night of memories, choosing 30 of their most loved songs, that spoke to our history and of world events.
While I was watching the live CBC broadcast of the concert, I decide that this morning's playlist would reflect this event. I set to work compiling the set list on Spotify, so that we could all relive the concert over and over again.
New artist Michl has a brand new, self-titled, album out, that was released on August 12th.
From the first track, "Kill Our Way To Heaven" all the way through to the last, Michl's voice reminds of me of Tom Yorke's, from Radiohead in it's melodic tones. Using a mix of electronic beats this primarily RnB album is going to be one of my favorites of the week.
Yesterday evening, I decided to listen to my "Chill Time" playlist and came across some great tunes from Kygo on the list. Clicking through, I found Kygo's "Cloud Nine" album. The album was already added to my collection, but I soon realized that I hadn't listened to the whole album in quite some time. There are many great tracks on it and also some great collaborations with the likes of Tom Odell, Kodaline, and John Legend to name just a few.
Kygo is ranked 35th in the world, with 14, 910, 963 monthly listeners, so I know that I'm not the only one who thinks that this is a great album, but I thought that I would show it some love this morning, anyway.
